This remake of a George A. Romero film of the same name gets a better boost from some great makeup and CGI.  Add to this the brisk style and cunning storytelling of director Breck Eisner, and you have a decent package for the big screen. Filled with a lot action and suspense, The Crazies will be a delight to horror fans.

Adolescence is a time of great angst and confusion: you’re trying to figure out who you are, dealing with parents who have suddenly become a hundred times as infuriating as they ever used to be, and facing the beginning of the rest of your life. 16 year-old Percy Jackson, lucky fellow that he is, is having an even worse time of it.

It seems nobody’s bothered to tell him that his absentee father is none other than Poseidon, the ancient Greek god of the seas. Oh, and this lineage has led the other Gods to suspect that Percy has stolen Zeus’ legendary lightning bolt, so now they're kind of after his blood.

According to Senior Vice President of Events for the NFL, Frank Supovitz, Sun Life Stadium in Miami is spruced up for the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl. At the close of the Pro Bowl, that takes place later today, the field will be reconditioned, team emblems added, new advertising signage in place -- and all this in time for a Super Bowl press day on Tuesday February 2.

You would think, with the Pro Bowl on the previous weekend, that it would be a lengthy conversion to make the stadium ready for the Super Bowl. "It actually takes a whole lot less than a week," says Supovitz. "One of the things we did was make sure that everything we needed for the Super Bowl was already here by the time the Pro Bowl started. But we really don't have a week -- we have 36 hours (following the Pro Bowl). And the reason we only have 36 hours, is that Super Bowl media day happens this Tuesday. We want the stadium to look like it is ready for Super Bowl on Tuesday morning."

I think Bruce Willis is probably the best all-around film star that has survived nearly three decades without a dud.  And with Surrogates it’s a near miss.  Just eking above average, the film survives with some awesome special effects and Willis’ creative performance.  If you like science fiction that goes hyper realistic, then Surrogates should be on your DVD short list.
