You’ve studied your options, taken the tours, picked the college of your choice, and started the semester. So what do you do if that college isn’t right for you after all?
AcademyOne launched CollegeTransfer.net in February 2007 to help students in this dilemma find another institution of higher education that may better suit their needs.
Most college students avoid thinking about the real world until at
least their junior year, putting off that visit to the campus career
center as long as possible. According to Matthew Brink of Saint
Joseph’s University’s Career Development Center, sometimes it’s the
waiting that can make the task overwhelming.
According to Brink,
students who make the trip as freshmen and continue to visit all
through their college years, are more likely to land a job out of
college. At Saint Joseph’s, Brink outlines a four-year plan for all
students.

Experience,
Inc., the nation’s leading provider of
career services for college students and young alumni, today announced
results from its 2008 Jobs and Economic Survey. More than 12,900 Gen Y
voters from all 50 states completed the online survey from Experience (http://www.experience.com),
85 percent of whom indicated they plan to vote in the upcoming elections.
The survey, which polled undergraduate and graduate students as well as
young professionals, found that 60 percent have seen a significant drop
in entry-level jobs since the beginning of the year. Nearly 80 percent
(77%) of them said entry-level job creation was a factor in how they
will cast their vote. Midsize to large business stimulation and
entrepreneurial activity were also cited as significant factors in Gen Y’s
vote at 76 percent and 69 percent, respectively.
