Are you a high school student looking for a website to display your athletic skill? A new interactive website called Jookt.com has launched as a base for high school athletics.
Jookt.com allows users to post videos surrounding high school sports teams, whether they are on the field or training. Jookt is also developing “The Stream,” an original programming focused on high school sports news highlights and the behind-the-scenes antics.
In 2000, an initiative began to help students make a name for themselves as filmmakers. Eight years later, Campus Movie Fest (CMF) has grown into a major film-making competition, spreading throughout colleges in 24 different cities and four countries. In conjunction with AT&T, Campus Movie Fest has announced a 2008-2009 World Tour.
Students from participating universities will be given brand new Apple and AT&T equipment for one week in order to write, shoot, and edit a short film. Awards will be given out based on film genre, use of mobile equipment, and issues addressed in the film.
As Halloween creeps around the corner, millions of Americans are looking for the best place to get a good scare. Thankfully, Hauntworld Magazine has compiled a list of the Top 13 Haunted Attractions in the US. Judged on “attention to detail, high-quality special effects, and overall scare factor,” these Halloween hot spots are sure to have you shaking in your shoes.
"The haunts industry fits into a special niche of the entertainment world, where the main goal is to provide an intensely frightening experience, yet leave customers exhilarated enough to return next year, or even next week," said Larry Kirchner, Editor-in-Chief of Hauntworld Magazine. "In order to accomplish this, a tremendous amount of production is involved in each successful haunt. Owners have behind-the-scenes teams of master Hollywood special effects technicians, make-up artists, set designers, and trained actors.”
Barack Obama is the preferred U.S. presidential candidate in all 22 nations polled for the BBC World Service by the University of Maryland and Globescan.
On average, Obama was preferred by a four to one margin (49 percent to 12 percent) over his Republican rival John McCain in the poll of 22,000 people.
But the margin ranged widely across nations, with Obama favored by nine percent in India to 82 percent in Kenya. Nearly 40 percent of those surveyed did not take a position. This was particularly the case in Russia, Turkey and Egypt.
MTV, mtvU and HP have geared up to release a new online series, Engine Room, in which young, artistic minds from all over the world come to Brooklyn, NY to compete for digital art supremacy. Using HP technology, the contestants will compete in a series of creative challenges to be judged by iconic artists, filmmakers and musicians.
"Engine Room was born to foster creativity and enable some of the most inventive young minds to amplify how technology brings digital art to life," said David Roman, vice president of Marketing Communications at HP. "MTV is the ideal partner to share this 'battle for glory' with viewers around the world."
