For those of us in education, this question is not so easily answered. Yes, the academe can instruct, it can assess, and it can confer degrees, but can any of us ever determine the true capabilities of any student? I don't think so! At the outset, this might sound pessimistic. After all, when we send our children to school, when we dedicate so much time to their future success, what parent wants to hear this: "Yes we instructed, yes we did the assessment, and yes we granted the degree, but we don't know if your child knows anything."
This might sound extraordinary, but it's true. Yet, I write this paper not as a pessimist, but partly as a optimist (I have great hope in my students' potential, even when they are not performing up to standard) and partly as a realist, a realist who has witnessed superior performance from students who apparently had ‘documentation' by other teachers and psychologists indicating that my students did not have the mental capacities to perform what they did, in fact, eventually learn.

A little over a month has passed since the release of the fourth installment of Indiana Jones. Welcomed back triumphantly after 19 years from Indy's last crusade, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull became second only to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End as the biggest blockbuster for Memorial Day weekend in history.
With over eight million in ticket sales just last weekend alone, June 21-22 ($290,961,044 total to date), it is safe to say that Indiana will remain in the hearts of die-hard fans and etch his place in new ones.
All it takes is the silhouette of a man with a bullwhip and a fedora to register images of Indiana Jones. Quickly, our minds gear up toward deciphering more clues, death-defying escapes, and the perilous quest of finding yet another lost and mysteriously powerful treasure.

I've seen a lot of things in my life...I've seen Niagara Falls. I've seen a Chicken in a Classroom. I've even seen every single episode of Seinfeld. But none of that (except maybe Seinfeld) could compare to what I saw at the Florida SuperCon.
When I first arrived at the Con, I was blown away. I arrived early and
met a couple of celebs. Soon the area became swamped with crazy
anime fans. After a while all I saw was Comic Books, Security, Pockey, and
Kingdom Hearts...Boy did I see a lot of Kingdom Hearts!
Now on to the main part of this article. I was on a simple mission: the
game room. Of course as video games are my passion, I thought I was going to be covering a small room of little crappy arcade
games...but I was wrong.

From March 23rd to the 25th at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Resort in Weston, Florida, ACED Magazine had the privilege of attending the 2008 Florida SuperCon. The event included well-known celebrities, respected artists, amazing costume players, a loony YouTube personality, a DJ brought in directly from Los Angeles, a multitude of vendors, countless numbers of comic book fans and gamers, and so much more. The turnout was extraordinary to say the least.
One of the highlights of the SuperCon was ACED Magazine being given the
opportunity to meet and interview many wonderful entertainers such as
Brian O'Halloran from Clerks and Clerks II, Natalia Tena, Devon Murray, Danelle Tabor and Hugh Mitchell from the Harry Potter films, Larry Kenney (best known as the voice of Lion-O in the Thundercats cartoon and as Count Chocula), and Dana Snyder (the voice of Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force).
The celebrities were showcased in a classy red carpet event, which
allowed for press and fans alike to take photos of their favorite stars.

Natalia Kicks Butt! The Florida SuperCon event at the Hyatt Regency was steadily winding down Sunday, May 25, when all of a sudden, Natalia Tena or "Tonks" from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, participated in one of the battles of the Sleeping Samurai tournament.
Natalia was kicking butt and enjoying herself like the rest of the crowd. Having had the opportunity to interview her, it was not so surprising to expect her to want to join in on the fun. Usually anyone can sign up to battle an opponent with foam weapons, but this genuine and very talented young lady, with a wild and free spirit, spiced up the tournament by getting involved.
The photos and the interview will be available soon, so please check back with us for those... In the mean time, watch a bit of the video here!
