charlottesometimes_album.jpgFeatured as part of the “100 Bands to Know” article from the Alternative Press, Charlotte Sometimes is one of the up-and-coming bands guaranteed to soon become a popular treat.

Inspired from a children’s novel, Charlotte Sometimes, the group started off with its main singer, Charlotte, who has a history all her own, and later developed into the rest of the band.

It’s most often said that artists should be as original as possible, but not so much that they won't attract a fandom or appeal to the general public. At first glance, this group’s website may seem to possess fun, upbeat songs, but after listening to their main song, “How I Could Just Kill a Man,” there is so much more to the group than upbeat pop.

Artist: Charlotte Sometimes
Album: Waves and the Both of Us
Website: MySpace

This song seems to be the most famous, showing off Charlotte, the main singer’s voice. Her voice is similar to a soft, urban chant, but the lyrics mix in with the other instruments producing a poppy, alternative sort of hit about the metaphorical similarities of actually killing a man.

Other songs include “Losing Sleep” and “AEIOU”, tracks you might hear on a popular radio station. “Sweet Valium High” begins with a piano solo, but later turns into a more pop-type sound. The slowest song of them all, “Pilot”, opens listeners up to the realization that this group can do everything from Nu-Jazz styles to the latest in pop rock. If you’re looking for something new and upbeat to listen to, Charlotte Sometimes is everything a person can look for in great music.
