The Walt Disney Studios has just added another thing to their long list of mediums: graphic novels. Disney has just signed a deal with Ahmet Zappa, Harris Katleman, and Christian Beranek to form Kingdom Comics. Kingdom Comics will develop graphic novels with hopes to adapt them into future Disney films, as well as reach back into the Disney Vault and turn classic live-action Disney films into graphic novels. Ahmet Zappa, the son of late musician Frank Zappa, started out as an actor. Now, Zappa is a published author and film producer. His first novel, The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless was sold to Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films in 2006. From 1980 to 1992, Harris Katleman was the CEO of Twentieth Century Television. During Katleman's run, the studio produced such classics as The Simpsons and NYPD Blue. Writer and editor Christian Beranek started Silent Devil, an independent publishing company in 1996. During that time, Beranek was one of the minds behind the Se7en series, as well as Dracula vs. King Author, which is going to be adapted into a film in the near future. Disney Publishing Worldwide will distribute all graphic novels produced by Kingdom Comics.
