Both Kaiser and Cartel were already part of the music world, although separately, until meeting briefly one night at the Knitting Factory. The twosome eventually decided to tour together. During this time, each would be featured on the other's music, but it was not until after they returned home that Kaiser and Cartel collaborated to form KaiserCartel and their debut album, March Forth.
Overall, March Forth has an incredibly attractive sound. As the tracks progress, each one sounds different from the last. "Season Song" has an upbeat, pop vibe, but "The Good Ones" has a more romantic feel. There is a lot going on in the music, and even though this is a duo, it seems like KaiserCartel consists of twenty people and not two. The album art is very charming and original, something that might get left out of those ever-so-popular digital downloads. The artwork reinforces that KaiserCartel are real artists, not cheesy, corporately-owned musicians.

The duo KaiserCartel consists of Courtney Kaiser and Benjamin Cartel. The two are teachers by day, rockers by night, nestled tightly in the Brooklyn scene.
