I’m not going to lie. I was interested in what Aqua VI had to offer. Advertised as being a new surf brand for people ages 16-26, Aqua VI is supposed to differ from every other surf brand through its quality and comfort. According to an interview with Murray, “the clothing line has a richness to it. Every category has something special, for example, our sweaters are a cotton/cashmere blend instead of acrylic.” Interested in what this brand truly had to offer, I then walked into the Nordstrom’s by my house and compared the material. It is true. Although Aqua VI tends to have prices that are a little higher than those such as Billabong and Quiksilver, the material is also noticeably better. This is mainly because the cotton tees are from Peru, and tees are also being washed at a denim house while there are a variety of novelty washes to choose from with t-shirts. “I created Aqua VI when I went shopping for clothes. I found that there were not many options in this pricing structure. I love designing fashion for young people so every company I’ve worked for, I have pushed the bar a little farther,” stated Murray. This time, with Aqua VI, she has teamed up with Ziggy Williams to produce a top-notch surf brand guaranteed to last. Murray’s experience from working at other surf companies has also helped her greatly in establishing this clothing line. According to her, the most important thing to do is to stay on task and be patient with what happens. However, Aqua VI is not only meant to be great for the sun, it’s also supposed to be fashionable as well. The clothes have interesting designs that allow it to be trademarked. Symbols that are commonly repeated on items of clothing include scrolls, crossbones and daggers. Even the name Aqua VI reminds you of deep waters and uncharted places. I asked Murray what comes to mind when I ask her some of the following: 1) What do you think of when you hear the word surf? “The smell of saltwater.” 2) What do you think of when you hear the word clothes? “The great basics; jeans, blazers and t-shirts. 3) What do you think of when you hear the word California? “The sun and great looking people.” With the goal of making surf clothes fun and fashionable for teens, and the determination to improve with every company she’s worked for, Murray has developed the ultimate brand of clothing in surf wear promised to last and to always be in style. I, myself, have become a full supporter of the brand and I promise that every piece of clothing is definitely worth the money.

Billabong. Quiksilver. Hurley. If you live near the sunny beach or partake in the hobby of surfing, these brands are probably all familiar to you. But even if you don’t live near a coast or participate in a sport involving water, you have probability still heard of these brands. The legendary co-founder of Hurley, Lian Murray, has once again thrilled young people with a new brand, specially made for the typical SoCal lifestyle.
