The biggest cases demand the best cops. So when a little girl goes missing, or a Homeland Security official takes a long drive off a short cliff, or a 90s serial killer revives his career in the 21st century, the LAPD knows to call Brenda Johnson and her crack team from the Priority Homicide Division.
The Closer returns for another incendiary season, and again
holding the match is Kyra Sedgwick, who has created one of TV's
most unforgettable characters. Go on the case with the whodunit series that shows how it's done.
DVD Features:
Presented on 4 discs
"Police Files" (Unaired Scenes)
Featurette: The Art of Interrogation
Gag Reel
Critique:
Kyra Sedgwick plays a strong, frail, chocolate-stashing, quick wit that charms her way to every confession. From her Southern accent and her polite mannerisms, to her temperous snaps and sharp deductive skills, she is easily one of the most enjoyable characters to watch on television.
Each episode is a new tale leaving viewers on the edge of their seat until its conclusion. It is always a delight watching the dots as they are connected by this character in varying states of realization throughout each show.
The actors in this series fit together perfectly, bringing a unique blend to crime fighting. Because this is not your typical forensic-driven show, the audience really gets an inside look into The Closer's main character and her personal life as well. She isn't just a detective fighting crime, she is a real person with real life demands and issues to deal with.
The extras on the DVD are quite interesting when learning the "art of interrogation" as done by real investigators. It is amazing how much the techniques used in the show actually correlate with how things are done in real life now as opposed to how things were done years ago.
The gag reel is a fun (too quick) clip of bloopers during filming. The only thing I wish they had on the disc set is some interviews with the cast or behind-the-scenes footage.
Final Analysis: The Closer is a masterpiece crime drama. This is a set no fan can be without, and one I suggest anyone not familiar with the show get -- and get all the seasons -- because they just don't get old!
