The third annual, internationally recognized Córdoba Animation Festival will take place November 5 through November 10. This event received 249 entries for the Competition Section alone, which is comprised of 10 feature-length films, 17 series and 222 short films. With last year's entries reaching 188, 249 is a vast improvement, and sure to showcase wonderful and diverse works. People of all ages and nationalities will be showcased at ANIMACOR'07, including Spain, Russia, United States, Argentina, Brazil, China and many others. This festival not only showcases people's talents, it awards people too. There will be trophies and cash prizes to those who receive the highest accolades. The total amount of money being given at the event reaches 39,000 euros (that's over 52,000 US dollars!). There will be an anime session for children who go to school in the city and province of Córdoba. They will screen the creative works. More sessions will be held for the adult public at the Andalusian Film Institute.ANIMACOR'07 is also hosting the Second Multilateral Animation Co-producers' Forum, an annual meeting of the Andalusian Animation Industry. Other events and functions will take place as well, including an exhibition on the world-renowned cartoonist and animator Oscar Grillo, a masterclass taught by Academy Award nominee Joanna Quinn, and a tribute to animation genius, Robert Balser.
