Several thousand anti-war protesters showed up in Washington this September to relay their opinions about the troops in Iraq. They marched downtown, clashing with the police near the Capitol's steps where nearly 160 people were arrested.

Protesters walked with signs and banners in hand, peacefully chanting and demonstrating their right to free speech.

Eventually they took part in a lay down on the Capitol lawn, in what they called a "die-in� � with signs on top of their bodies to represent soldiers killed in Iraq.

Apparently, arrests began when some of the protesters started climbing over a barricade at the foot of the Capitol steps�well, that is the "boxed" story.

Things aren't always what they seem when it comes to government event reporting, however. With over 100,000 people in attendance throughout the event, things could have been much worse certainly, but one protester just wishes people would listen without getting nasty.

"I would say what troubled me the most was seeing police tear gas young and older women on the front lines of the protest as they demanded the government to bring our troops home. And, also, the Pro-Bush cheerleaders on the sides of the march putting us down, instead of trying to understand our view or talk about it," says fellow protester Mike Young.

There were about 1,000 counterprotesters gathered near the Washington Monument, frequently erupting in chants of "U-S-A", waving American flags, and screaming other not-so-nice things at the protesters.
