It seems a little out of order to have a self-titled third album, right? Not for Simple Plan. With two hit CDs, it would have been easy enough for them to stick with what worked. Instead, we get this: a self-titled, non-debut album with new sounds and new musical experiments.

Thankfully, despite the risks - or perhaps because of them - the album was a success. Sure, they mixed it up a bit, but who wants to spend $15 to listen to the same songs over again? "When I'm Gone", the upbeat, dance-y, inspirational opening track; and "Generation", with its hip-hop-based beat, in particular, provide most of the different sounds in the collection.

Even with the fresh twists, though, Simple Plan still retains the original flair that made them such a success from the start. With Simple Plan, they have provided enough variation to keep things unique and interesting without betraying their previously established style. How many bands can say that?

I think that the album is good but is more hip hop (mainly "Generation" than they have been before. Its good that they're branching out, but they dont want to completely lose their innitial sound, and the sound that got them their hundred thousand fans in the first place.

What the Flip?
Daniel Sargeant - Tuesday, 06 January 2009
MTV has their own little campaign going on for college students right now. They gave 100 Flip camcorders to 100 college students around the country and told them to get inspired and surprise us with some video footage of their own design. Different themes guided them, some were open-ended, others were scavenger hunts and others were questions only they could answer. Read More

newyearimage.jpgA lot has happened in 2008. Of course, it will go down in history as the year America elected Obama into office, the first African-American President. And, thankfully, the last year Bush has to ruin what's left of the country he has polluted for so many years.
