| Almost
There
Driving in my car tonight
Not knowing where I am,
Looking for a purpose in life
Glad there's not a traffic jam.
I turn up the music and
Listen to some rock,
I take off my shoes
And also my socks.
Searching for something,
But I don't know what,
It may be a little,
But it may also be a lot.
Looking here, looking there,
Looking almost anywhere,
Not knowing where I'll be next,
But knowing that I am almost there.

Driving a car
You close the door
And there you are
Sitting in your first car.
You’re feeling free,
Independence lies
Wherever you want it to be.
So start to drive
And you will find,
With every mile a brand new life.

At
Last
For the first time in life
I’m behind the wheel,
The teacher is by my side
And for me, this is a big deal.
Now there is a crimson light
In front of my eyes.
So I put on the brake
And my speed eventually dies.
I stop and think to myself
About being able to drive,
I can go to parties and whatnot,
And be ever so alive.
I never was exactly normal
And probably never will be,
Because to the world I’m known as
The Harry Potter guy, you see.
My friends know me well
So they treat me as I’m normal,
No fancy salutes or special treatment
Or being oh so formal.
I do not have a girlfriend
So no need to worry there,
No special attitude towards me or
Answers becoming proper, like, “yes sir”.
I just want to be normal,
So I’m glad I’m taking this test,
Everyone I know took it and
I want to be like the rest.
My eyes see a flash of green
And so I put my foot down,
Now all the blood is draining from my face
As my red Cadillac moves around.
The teacher tells me to stop somewhere
So I go to the nearest lot.
I find a space and park and
Wait for him to tell me what I got.
“You passed son, you did well”,
Were the words sinking into me deep,
My voice was completely lost
And I couldn’t utter a peep.
I was thrilled to hear those words
And know that I passed.
Now my friends can’t tease me
That I’m going to learn driving last.
I’m officially done learning
How to steer and stuff,
And now I don’t really need to
Further use a bluff.
I was completely and totally ecstatic
That I ultimately passed the test.
I was worried for nothing
And now I get my license at last!

"Finally Driving,
Freely Flying"
Start your engine,
Turn the key,
Acceleration -
Now you’re free.
Lifting upward,
Off the ground,
Letting go
Of city sounds.
All your worries
Out the door,
As an eagle
Now you soar.
Over treetops,
Rolling hills,
Flying cars -
Are full of thrills
Zooming faster,
Through the air,
Invisible -
Without a care.
Finally finding
Liberty,
Now you’re driving -
Wild and free.

This
is…
Glancing out my window,
Looking left then right.
Again, I look behind me,
This is truly a better life.
Easing out the driveway and
Turning down the lane.
I merge onto the freeway,
This is a wonderful day.
Flowing with the traffic and
Enjoying the scenic view,
Remembering to be patient,
This is an important rule.
Arriving at my destination,
Parking in the lot,
Looking back at my car,
This is great…my own spot!

First Drive on the Road
There once was a boy who never did drive
'til he turned 17, boy, did he feel alive!
He got in his car, and looked out to the road,
His teacher beside him had a grade he did not show.
"Put it in drive" the teacher said
bold
And so the boy did as he was told.
Hours passed and the boy stopped at the light
red,
"You're doing good now boy, now park up ahead."
The boy did as he was told, then he asked, for
his grade.
"We're not done yet there is still more to be made."
So the boy turned left, he turned north, then
to his right,
So far he did great, he stopped at every red light.
"Okay, we're almost done here. Take us
back to the school",
"Yes sir" he replied in a way that was cool. |
So
he finished the test and waited for the grade,
He felt he did great on this day.
“You have passed the test young one, you're
ready for real,”
The boy smiled ‘cause now it was the real deal.
"Now here is your grade, go take it inside."
The boy was so happy he'd get his own ride.
So Daniel, don't worry, you will do great,
As the boy in my poem you'll get a 5 star rate.
