Today is Tonight  is the debut album from The Changes. Who are The Changes? Darren and Dave both sing and play guitar. Dave also adds songwriter to his list of talents. Rob is the band’s bassist while Jonny displays his talents on the drums. All four of them can and do provide accompaniment on the keyboard. The band hails from Chicago and successfully self-produced this album.

Bouncy, relaxing, refreshing, light, meaningful—all of these words describe this well-done album from The Changes. Their ability to mesh bass, guitar, keyboard, drumming and very ear-pleasing vocals gives this band a sound that will have you listening again and again. You may be thinking pop music as you listen, but “Today is Tonight” has very subtle notes that include the 60s, 70s, 80s and present-day.

Each song is reminiscent of artists that helped shaped music as we know it today. You easily pick out sounds that could be the Police, Genesis, Chicago and other various period artists. A couple of the songs actually have a disco feel to them. The lyrics, melodies and overall sound of the tracks really showcase the talents of this band.

Today is Tonight  from The Changes is yet another example of a band making it further than bar gigs. The ease at which they transition from track to track and style to style makes this an enjoyable experience.
